Transparency, Trust & The Truth: An Update from Wicked Fun Club

An Open Letter To Our Members & Community

To our valued members and supporters,

We want to thank you for your continued trust, understanding, and loyalty as we navigate recent developments regarding the Wicked Fun Club’s operations. In the spirit of transparency and community, we are providing you with a clear and comprehensive update.

Background of the Cease-and-Desist Order

The Town of Plymouth recently issued a cease-and-desist order against the Wicked Fun Club. This action was prompted by suspicions raised by Pastor Townsley of Riverside Baptist Church regarding vehicles in our parking lot on Friday and Saturday evenings. As many of you are aware, these suspicions initiated a months-long investigation into our club.

This week, we received the finalized report from the Plymouth Police Department. Officer Dean Cyr confirmed, unequivocally, that there is no evidence of any criminal activity at the club. His statement to the Bristol Press was simple and clear:

“It’s a private club with a bunch of consenting adults doing their thing.”

This should have ended the matter.

Concerns About the Town’s Motivations

However, new and troubling information has come to light. A current member of Riverside Baptist Church informed us that Pastor Townsley and Mayor Kilduff are personal friends. While we have no way to personally verify this, the revelation raises serious questions about whether the Town’s cease-and-desist order was issued based on legitimate legal grounds—or as a personal favor aimed at eliminating our presence.

This is deeply concerning. Using the weight of town authority to serve personal interests—particularly at the expense of a legally operating, private members-only club—undermines the principles of fairness, due process, and the trust residents place in their local government.

We want to make this very clear: the Town of Plymouth has no legal standing to shut us down. If the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) votes against us, we are fully prepared to take this to court. And should that happen, it won’t be us footing the legal bill—it will be the taxpayers of Plymouth, funding what we believe is a baseless legal battle the Town is likely to lose.

A Bitter Irony

To add insult to injury, we have also confirmed that Riverside Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Townsley, is preparing to relocate to Bridgeport within the next 18 months. The very church stirring controversy and driving action against us is planning to leave Plymouth behind—taking its tax-free resources with it and offering nothing in return to the community it’s disrupting.

It’s disheartening to think that a local government may be spending its time and resources chasing out a quiet, private club—only to protect the short-term wishes of a friend who won’t even be part of the town’s future.

If You Believe This Isn’t Right

If you agree it’s not a valid use of your tax dollars—if you believe this isn’t worth dragging the community through—then let the Mayor and Town Councilmembers know: it’s time to drop the cease & desist and let us be. We’re not bothering anyone. We’re just trying to exist peacefully like anyone else.

Membership, Privacy, and Operations

To all our members: your information is safe, and your privacy remains our top priority. We will also have enhanced parking security this weekend for your peace of mind.

We are still operating under state law, which allows us to remain open throughout the appeal process. However, please note that moving forward, all new members will be required to pay for a one-year membership in full. Existing members will not be affected by this change.

Looking Ahead

Our appeal to the Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th. Jodi has been working diligently to present a well-documented, fact-based defense, and we are confident in our case. If you feel comfortable, we encourage you to attend and show your support.

We’ve built something real at Wicked Fun Club—a space for consenting adults to connect in trust, privacy, and mutual respect. And we won’t allow misinformation or personal vendettas to tear it down.

We’re grateful to have you with us in this fight, and no matter what happens—we will endure.

With appreciation and resolve,

Steve & Team at Wicked Fun Club
